I’m writing this from the Frankfurt Airport. One 10-hour flight down, one 2+ hour flight to go. I think I said this is my previous post, but post-Covid travel is very strange. More documents to carry and more hoops to jump through. Travel always brings a certain amount of uncertainty. Will we make our flight? Will it leave on time? Will we make the connection? Are all my forms in order? And, oh yeah, will the ATM give me back my card? I’m happy to report: so far, so good! The nice thing about the United app is, it won’t let you check in until everything is in order. Took us long enough to get said forms approved, but we’re currently in Germany, so I guess they worked. Also, the flight itself… Who serves you THREE meals on a 10-hour red-eye? Apparently, United does. When I get back, I’m going to ask Dan Bryan about this; he has about a billion United miles and I wonder how many meals he gets on United.
By the way, each of our backpacks checked in at a solid 16 pounds. Two changes of clothes, more than two pair of underwear and socks, and some Tevas. And I brought, according to Paula, a “fancy” scarf. Am I going to become one of those scarf-wearing dudes when this is all over? Who knows, but I might workshop it in Spain! boarding for Madrid in 15. Buen Camino!
